Barça Move From Adebayor To Berbatov Barcelona have set their sights on signing a striker from a top north London club, but instead of Emmanuel Adeba

The Blaugrana's technical secretary, Txiki Begiristain, has held talks with coach Pep Guardiola and the pair believe that Bulgarian could well be the frontman they are looking for, according to Marca.

While other outlets have Barça down as chasing Robinho, the Madrid-biased daily believe that the Catalan outfit will use the money from the sale of Ronaldinho to make a move for Berbatov.

Samuel Eto'o has already been told that he is no longer wanted and the priority now is to find a powerful striker to play on his own up front and lead the line.

Berbatov's technique and ability to hold up the play and create goals is something that Begiristain sees as crucial to Barça next term, with Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi alongside him.

Adebayor was said to be the main target, but Arsenal are refusing to play ball and Barcleona do not believe that the Togo striker is worth the €36m asking price.

Instead a bid of around €25m should see talks with Tottenham open and a deal could be wrapped quickly with the Premier League side preferring to see one of their stars go to Camp Nou rather than Manchester United.

Berbatov would jump at the chance to play for Barcelona, despite his current push towards Old Trafford and coach Juande Ramos could then use the fee to bolster his squad accordingly.
