Cheikhou Kouyate, 19, has won his trial against former employers FC Brussels, who hadn’t paid him for three months, and signed a four-year contract with Anderlecht.
But he claims that Arsenal were also tracking him this summer.
The attacking midfielder told Het Nieuwsblad: “Arsenal were interested in my services.
“They scouted me several times but they weren’t the only side interested.
“Nevertheless, Anderlecht have been able to offer me something concrete and I couldn’t refuse this from such a great club.
“It’s a move forward after FC Brussels. I will now do my best to try and secure a starter status.”
